Navimation Research

A new blog has been born. Jon Olav Eikenes, a PhD student in the RECORD project, has recently launched the Navimation Research blog, which will be specifically related to the topic of his PhD project. The object of his study is ‘the interface’, in particular dynamic screen interfaces that employ visual motion with navigation. The blog will first and foremost relate to the progression of his research, but also include inspirational material for design, and take part in wider discussions related to interaction design and design research.

Urørt-LABS: Urørt på mobilen

I Urørt-LABS leker vi oss med fremtidens musikktjenester for NRK Urørt. En tjeneste fra Urørt-LABS er Urørt på mobilen. Du kan se den på video. I tillegg til videoen nedenfor finnes det videoer for hver av funksjonene ”Hva skjer“, “Lister” og “Radio“.

Vær med å diskutere: Hvordan vil denne tjenesten fungere? Er dette noe du ønsker deg? Hvordan kan Urørt på mobilen gjøres bedre?

Tilbakemelding på idéer for musikktjenester på nett

I RECORD-prosjektet leker vi oss med design-idéer for fremdens nettjenester. I april laget våre designerne ved AHO et knippe idéer for musikktjenester på nett, beskrevet som idékort.

Idéene handler om hvordan en tjeneste som Urørt kunne funger dersom den var tilgjengelig på mobiltelefon/mp3-spiller eller lignende.

Vi inviterte en del Urørt-brukere om å gi oss tilbakemelding på idéene våre. Tilbakemeldingene ble brukt i det videre arbeidet med idéene.

Drøyt 150 personer deltok i undersøkelsen.  Alle deltagerne som la igjen e-postadresse vil bli invitert til å være med på Del II av undersøkelsen, der vi ber om tilbakemelding på videopresentasjoner av nye tjenesteidéer som ble tatt videre etter undersøkelsens Del I.

Ti av deltagerne vant hvert sitt gavekort på kroner 400. Alle vinnerne er tilskrevet.

Urørt workshop

Together with 12 participants from the Living Lab, we conducted four hour workshop here at AHO. We perfomed different listing and mapping exercises, and idea-generation around the theme of sharing and experiencing music-related content. The outcome was a very rich material for further investigation and fuel for the continuing design process.

First design delivery

On January 24th, we at AHO presented our first design delivery for the project. The delivery is in the form of three scenarios which visualize our future visions for a football-related social network service where you can watch, create, explore and share audio-visual content.

Each scenario will be made available here as soon has they have been revised and prepared for web-viewing.

Navimation presented at UXnet meetup

Yesterday I presented the concept of “navimation” for the first time in a public setting, at the UXnet meeting “Hvordan skaper man gode brukeropplevelser?”.

Navimation (navigation+animation) is basically a phenomena that appears by introducing animation and dynamic movement in screen-based interfaces for navigation in digital content. The main assumption is that animation and dynamic movement provide the possibility of designing new types of interfaces, and bring more flow to the experience of using a digital interface. Telenor idea workshop

We started off with presentations from Arve Hjelseth and Hans Hognestad. They have both done research on football supporters, and gave us very interesting thoughts on the Norwegian football culture. Petter Bae Brandtzæg (SINTEF) presented some results from his research on online communities. After a delightful lunch we generated lots of ideas and concepts for football services.

Football ethnography

Sunday the 7th of October Jørn, Jon Olav and Una (all from AHO) went to Ullevål Stadion to see Vålerenga-Lillestrøm, to get a glance into the culture of football supporters. This was done as a part of the design research for developing new service concepts related to football, for Telenor. It was freezing, but at least we got an impression of the life at the football stadium.
