This page presents design experiments that have been produced at AHO in the RECORD project.
Case: NRK Urørt (iteration #1)
Urørt Maps
One of the defining qualities of NRK Urørt is its geographical context. The service focuses on Norwegian artists and bands, and the local and geographical belonging is important for many of these artists and their audience. Therefore, and based on users’ evaluations of ideas, we chose the Norwegian map as a starting point for creating a dynamic interface.
Urørt for iPhone #1: Introduction
In this video we present the opening screen of the application. We introduce the sub-hierarchical features, and go through the features of the music player. The player is minimized in an always-on-top box above the logo and navigation area. In the minimized state, the player displays the track currently being played, and offers a pause/play button, previous and next buttons and a button which lets you add a comment to the track currently playing. By tapping the player it expands and reveals an image and more textual information about the artist. More buttons are also revealed, letting you add the song to a playlist and recommend it to a specific person. In addition there is a slider that lets you skip to any time in the track.
Urørt for iPhone #2: What’s up?
This is the social feature where you share experiences and thoughts around activities connected to Urørt, like listening to music from or attending a concert with an Urørt artist.
It can be seen as a presence tool, presenting short strings of text attached to the activity. When entering the feature, you are presented with a question “Hva skjer?” (What’s up?), and an input area where you can answer the question. Underneath are the most recent utterings from you and people in your scene. We have limited the commenting system, so that you can only comment when you are actually performing an rørt-related activity. This is to limit the noise and to keep the conversation more connected to the content.
Urørt for iPhone #3: Lists
In this video we introduce the playlist feature. Upon entering the list feature, you are presented with the most recent playlists created by the people in your “scene”. Below is a section with the playlists that you have actively chosen to follow. A red dot with a number in it indicate new entries to the list that you haven’t listened to yet. The playlists are presented with a title explaining it’s content, and the name and avatar of the owner. You enter the playlist by tapping it. Here you are presented with the option to follow (adding it the list of playlists you follow) this playlist, followed by the actual content of the playlist. By tapping any of the entries, the track starts playing. In the top-menu there are two more options. “Dine” lets you administrate and access the playlist you have created yourself. Each list is annotated with the number of followers, indicating how popular it is. By entering the list you are presented with its content. You can remove entries, start listening to individual entries, or listen to the list as a whole. Lastly there is the “Toppers”-option presenting your 10 most listened to tracks, and the 10 most popular tracks in your “scene”.
Urørt for iPhone #4: Radio
In this video we present the feature called Radio. This can be seen as a podcast extension of the content being presented on the actual FM-radioshow. Pieces of the radio show are archived and sorted by genre. In addition there are shows where external people can sift through the Urørt-content and pick out their favourites. As in the playlist feature you access the content by tapping the title. You can choose to follow channels. All the channels you choose to follow are collected under the “Dine”-tab. Under the “scene”-tab you find the most popular channels in your “scene”.
Case: Telenor (iteration #1)
Scenario 1
In this scenario you will see how the borders between professional and user-generated media content is blurred, and how simple tools can be used to navigate and remix this content. We are also exploring ways to distribute media content in a physical context.
(Text in Norwegian)
Scenario 2
In this scenario you will see how tools for planning of social activities and other services pull on each other. Also, you will see how we envision you can discover content in the physical world and share this with your friends.
(Text in Norwegian)
Scenario 3
In this scenario you will see how media services disconnect from a static place to dynamically follow the person. You will also see how different devices communicate wirelessly and how new types of interactions enable a new experience on the TV-screen.
Case: NRK Urørt (iteration #2)
Iteration number two for NRK was conducted as a student-project at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design in collaboration with RECORD. The students was given a 4 week task for the Urørt-case. Read more about the projects by clicking the images:
